371 physicians from 17 countries of the world were registered for the participation in the 9th International Symposium of Gastroenterology.
Also Prof. Julius Špičák, MD, Ph.D., President of the Czech Society of Gastroenterology, agreed to take an active part in the symposium.
40 works of experts from 10 countries were presented at the symposium. Russian gastroenterology was represented also by Prof. Dr. Vladimir Ivashkin.
The symposium was preceded by a press conference with the presence of representatives of the Uzbek press and TV (in the photograph – an interview with Assoc. Prof. Jan Kotrlík, MD, Ph.D., and Prof. Petr Dítě, MD, D.Sc.).
A multimedia hall at the Dedeman Silk Road Tashkent Hotel with a capacity of 500 people is one of the biggest in Uzbekistan.
Prof. Dr. Yeldos Izatullaev (Kazakhstan) gave a lecture on Clinical and Endoscopic Endpoints in Practice.
The international symposium was opened by Uzbek Minister of Health Dr. Adkham Ikramov (on the left) and representative of the Czech Embassy in Tashkent Roman Masařík, M.Sc. (on the right).
In the Hepatobiliary Diseases Section Prof. Dr. A. Nersesov gave a lecture on Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis.
The official language of the symposium was English and the presentations at this time were interpreted also into Russian.
Prof. Dr. José Armengol-Miró (Spain, on the right in the photograph) gave a lecture on the State of the Art: Notes from the Laboratory to Clinical Practice.
In the Inflammatory Bowel Disease II Section Prof. Dr. Mirvasit Karimov (Uzbekistan) gave a lecture on IBD as a Risk Factor for Colorectal Carcinoma.
Prof. Dr. Alexander Trukhmanov (Russia) gave a lecture on Enteric Antibodies and Gut Motility Disorders.
Blocks of presentations were headed by two chairs. The Inflammatory Disease I Section was facilitated by Prof. Dr Hab. n. med. Grażyna Rydzewska (Poland) and Prof. Milan Lukáš, MD, PhD. (Czech Republic).
Dr. Joan Dot Bach (Spain) gave a lecture on Problems with the Dislocation of Stents in the Biliary and Pancreatic Tree.
To pay the tribute to Dr. Rudolf Bares, the founder of PRO.MED.CS Praha a.s., a lecture on Effectiveness of Combined Treatment of Barrett’s Oesophagus and Erosive Oesophagitis Using Proton Pump Inhibitors and Ursodeoxycholic Acid was given by Prof. Dr. Vladislav Tsukanov (Russia).
