On 4 June 2026, the Ceremony of the 17th annual Dr. Bares Award took place in Tbilisi, Georgia during the International Symposium of Gastroenterology, where we celebrated the achievements of this year's award winners.

Prestigious medical research award

In the Publication category we present awards to published scientific research papers in the fields of gastroenterology and hepatology. An independent committee of specialists evaluates the submissions and selects the three best publications for the award based on their innovativeness and significance to gastroenterology into the future.

In 2018 we also presented awards in the Idea category to innovative ideas that may lead to new applications for existing active substances based on hypotheses, preclinical or clinical research, individual observations, or experience with off-label use.

On March 7, 2026, the International Committee of the Dr. Bares Award (DBA) held its final session, carefully reviewed all submissions and carried out a detailed evaluation and voting process.

The 17th edition of the Dr. Bares Award professional competition is entering its final stage

The Dr. Bares Award is one of the mostprestigious international awards in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology, supporting top-level scientific research and clinical practice. Of the 70 professional papers submitted from 11 countries, 33 have advanced to the international round. The winners, who will share a total financial prize of EUR 29,000, will be selected by a six-member panel of experts in early March 2026.
